Few facts about Sibenik archipelago

  • It is situated in the middle of Croatian Adriatic coast.
  • Almost half of its islands are uninhabited – Tijat, Zmajan and Kakan are biggest ones without residents.
  • This archipelago is very popular among yachtsmen although the navigation through its waters is rather difficult due to numerous islands, islets and reefs.
  • There are four marinas in this area: Marina Tribunj, ACI marina Vodice, Marina Mandalina in Sibenik and Marina Kremik in Primošten.
  • Zlarin, Prvic and Krapanj are closest to the mainland. These islands have been populated for centuries,  they have picturesque small villages and are traffic free.
  • Zirje is an exception – due to its strategic position as an outer island it used to be military base from ancient times. That is why there are roads and all sorts of vehicles.
  • The distances are short, so on a daily speedboat tour you can see a lot.
